The iphone - The i what ?

                                                       

                               Hello My dear and smart readers,

As I am sitting here on my desk, I am watching this little piece of technology in front of me and I wanted to write about it. I think that if you never heard about the iphone these last couple of years then we should really talk. I remember being part of the group of people who was completely against it, having seen the huge cues on the telly, some people having slept on the floor since the day before just to get their hands on the iphone just gave me the message that I should never be like this and have one.

Well, It is now on my desk and it sits first of my top 5 last year's buyings by a mile. I believe Technology is what's really great in our time, and  you can't fight technology. You have to go with it and adapt to it as it can make bad things but also amazing stuff like this phone.

Let me give you some examples, I was in the middle of nowhere a few months ago  searching my way out in the middle of the Ireland countryside... by chance I remembered that the iphone was doing GPS as well, I turned it on and Va va voum I was on my way. I am blogging on it, I am listening for some random french radios from France I used to listen and believe it or not directly in my car with no interferences. It allows me to take quick notes and classify them quickly. The Ipod music part is simply incredible also, I used to think that this Apple Mp3 players were made for a large public and that it was not producing sharp sound quality, again I was wrong as the first time I listened to it it blew me away. More than 150 albums in my pocket. Simply incredible when you remember than 10 years ago we were still carrying our Big CD players with 1 disc inside.

I carry with me more than 200 podcasts from my mentor JB Glossinger in the pocket, everytime I want to refocus I just need to find the right topic and listen. I am watching the TV news from France downloaded directly as RSS on my phone.... Etc etc I could go on and on like this. There is no a day when I don't have to use the iphone at all... and I do not phone.

The message we have to take from this is that our life now belongs to technology like this, not only are we addicted and linked to them, but our lives are inside these little boxes. Our taste for music, our favorite websites, our notes, our contacts ... by finding an iphone you could almost describe the person who owns it. They are shaping and owning us.

Are we creating monsters ? I 'll leave you on this. As I said you don't fight technology you adapt to it.
